Update

Thanks for your prayers. I know they have been and are being answered for my sweet friends. Sarah and Laura are both doing exceptionally well at the moment. Of course there life is forever changed but the day to day is getting easier it appears. Sarah said something the first day and I think about it often but every purchase (big or small) or sentimental gift given now will be "after the fire." I know I have had "crisis training" but for all its worth it still really sucks to watch my friends go through all this. I am totally being selfish but I want my life back to normal, routine- I know THEY DO too! When will that happen? for any of us? They are back to work today and will move into the townhomes soon, maybe this week or next? so when that happens they will be my almost neighbors! yippee! Its just such a SLOW process! and now is the time I wonder what to do- the dust (shock) has settled, family members have gone home and life is supposed to be getting normal for them. but seriously how can it be it was just 8 days ago! it feels like a century to me. so all the to say please continue to keep them in your prayers!

Please Pray

My dear dear bestest friends, Sarah and Laura, lost their home to fire early Sunday morning. They are physically unharmed but are homeless and without anything. They literally got out with only the clothes on their back- which was p.j.'s due the time of day/night! It is all very surreal and overwhelming. They lost everything. I mean just thinking about that, everything big and small- all the knickknacks, hand me downs, antiques, clothes new and old, bedroom stuff, matresses, sheets, toothbrush, food, dishes, all your valubles and all your identifying paperwork- passports, drivers liscesne, bank card and check book. I mean how do you even prove you are who you say you are to get to the money that is yours! Furthermore if you go and try to get a liscense what address do you give them, where are you going to live- this is what my sweet friends are dealing with! Too much! They lost their phones as well so they were limited to call only those whose numbers they knew by heart- and lets face it that's about zero since 1997!
SO my mind is racing today and it is so hard to work! But they will be alright- they did have renters insurance so some if not all will end up getting compensated but they have to rebuild their lives!
Please please pray for them, for peace, provison and wisdom.

Jeremy's 10 year High School Reunion- GO MUSTANGS!

Some of Jeremy's friends had a pre party mixer at an apartment in the fondren building- it was very modern, uh retro- i don't know but cool nonetheless. If you look to the far right of the picture you can see some of the 'inspirational' messages that were written on the walls.
Such a cute candid of Micah and Hilary
Travis and Leslie in front of I think the only wall in the entire apartment that did not have 'inspirational' messages/thoughts written on them
This was a second attempt at a picture in front of some retro, or is it modern? artwork at the apartment
This was the first try- please obseve how thuggish Jeremy looks in this picture!
This was once we arrived at the Edison, its such a formal pose -Travis- why isn't your hand on Leslie's shoulder, did you not get the memo!
Nikki who put it all together- she did such a good job!
Micah and Hilary
Me and Jeremy lounging after dinner
The girls- we look so pretty!, if i do say so myself:)
and the boys- don't they look sharp!

Travis' hair, he and Micah have traded places since high school! sorry i can't firgure out how to flip this one around:(

Jeremy and Micah cheesing for the millions of camera's I mean paparazzi!

and Andy looking like a pimp!

So here are all the graduates that attended the Saturday night banquet/ball? you can click on it to enlarge it.
So there were lots more things that we did this weekend and plenty more people that we got to hang out with- I just did not do a good job at taking a lot of pics so hopefully people will send me some more from George St. or the picnic.

Another Side Note

I'm sorry I'm still reeling from all the hulaballoo but go ahead and google map the town in Alabama that is named my maiden- that's right it exists! And was named for my great great great grandfather Solomon W. WEIRD.

Family History

So through a series of random events, basically me and google being the random events- i have found my dad's genelogy on-line. Its so weird. Its not like on some website; it is its own 600 something page document with authors and stuff. they trace the family back to the boats. Isn't that weird- that's weird to me, and cool. I have all this history at my fingertips and I didn't have to put any work into at all. It's really bizarre. There are aparently only 7 generations (that includes my dad) that lead to the coming over to America. Why this is unusual to me is because on my mom's side of the family are livng 5 generations and have been since 1993 when my cousin had her baby girl Loranda (who will be 14 in 4 days, happy early b-day Loranda!). So its strange to think that my dad's sister who is 16 years older is the oldest family member on that side we know. I guess there are a lot of factors in this, how close family is both relationally and geographically and the age at which people have their children.
All this to say I have a new found respect for my weird maiden name, apparently its got staying power, who knew?

D

p.s. if you were wondering its of scottish-irish decent

My Wonderful Husband!

Last Night Jeremy suprised me by cooking dinner! It was so delicious! it was a recipe that I was planning on trying but he beat me to it. I thought I would share the recipe with you. Cick here to try PORK CHOPS WITH APPLES AND SHALLOTS. To be honest the title did not sound southern enough for me to be interested but its a Martha recipe so I thought I would try it. I will have pictures of our dinner at a later date.

More than just share a recipe I wanted to share my heart. I love my husband so much. He is the most wonderful man I think is or ever was.He made this wonderful dinner for me for no reason. Because he wanted to bless me.He went to great trouble to do something so selfless for me. he did it not because he likes cooking or cleaning but because he loves me and wants me to feel loved! I do feel so loved everyday by him. I am overwhelmed with love and joy.

I'm only happy when it rains!

there is a huge storm passing through right now and i had to expereince it. i love to watch and expereince a good rainstorm from a porch. for this storm system i was unfourtunaley at work but there is a covered porch on the back of our building that has a tin roof. aaahhhhhhhh. its so awesome to be able to observe something so powerful but not be harmed by it. in my dreams my house has a tin roof so i can listen to the rain and when it storms, i am in my p.j.'s on the porch, in a swing with a blanket, a good book and jeremy of course the other end of the swing. its soothing and wonderful just thinking about it.

so i have been pondering what all to put up on this blog. i know one purpose in the future will just be a way of updating folks on what is going on in our life but with a recent trip to see family and friends in chattanooga along with other things i'm personally feeling pretty connected or in touch at the moment. i mean i can always do more pictures and i probably will but... i had this brainy idea. what if for a while at least this was more of a forum for discussions and Q & A type stuff. i mean if there are questions you have or specific pictures you would like to see let us know. you can just leave a comment on this post and i'll either get back to you by a comment or a new post.
well this helps me.
talk to me, let me know! be funny be serious just be you.
